Track and protect the Eastern
Foxsnake |
| |
Around
the Great Lakes region, the Eastern Foxsnake is considered
an endangered species. The area is very busy, having
seen a great increase in cottages, residences, waterfront
development, pollution and heavy traffic, all elements
that contribute to the decline in the snakesí
numbers. Also, they are very large snakes, and some
people, afraid of the snakes that slither onto their
property, harm them.
Park wardens are dedicated to protecting endangered
species such as the Eastern Foxsnake. They work hard
to educate cottagers and other residents about the snake.
Also, they implant tiny radio-microchips under the snakesí
skins, so that they may track them to determine their
population numbers and to ensure they are in safe habitats.
